What real estate photographers don't tell you

Ahhh real estate photography. The one area I haven't really tried to explore. I've always loved looking at houses, so theoretically I should LOVE to photograph them. That's unfortunately only half true...
A few months ago I had access to a display home in Burpengary and decided to do up a portfolio I could show real estate agents. So I got to photographing the house. The kitchen was the easiest, of course. But then it came to the living room. Personally, the number ONE reason why I don't do real estate photography is because of angles.
I just can't get those angles to work, haha! It does look easy, and I'm sure most people think "hey that doesn't seem too hard... taking photographs of houses all day" but from my short time photographing this display home I can tell you it's SO much harder than it seems. There's so many different elements to it - getting the angles right, getting positioning right and so on. It's just a completely different experience to normal portrait photography.
I absolutely have a new found respect for real estate photographers! I do still want to get into the area eventually as it does seem like something I would enjoy. For now though I will happily stick to weddings and portraits around Brisbane!

Until next time,
